Roads are closed and homes have been destroyed in West Virginia after torrential rain led to deadly flash flooding in Wheeling and surrounding communities this weekend.

The remaining three days of the four-day Tennessee music festival were canceled and organizers are explaining why.

“Flash flooding occurred in the City of Wheeling and in Ohio County last night,” the Wheeling-OhioCounty EMA said in a Facebook post. “There is extensive damage to roads and bridges. Many roads are closed. People have lost their homes from this flooding.”

Three people are dead and multiple people are missing after Saturday night’s flash floods, Ohio County Emergency Management Agency Director Lou Vargo said Sunday morning. Vargo said that, according to the National Weather Service,

People who have been waiting to return to their homes following flooding nine months ago have been hit again. The overnight downpour has thwarted plans, as some had been expecting to return to their properties in Bridgend within a few months.

Southeast Texas has been hit hard with severe rain as heavy storms continue to sweep through the area, with some areas reporting up to 10 inches of rainfall. Flash flood warnings are in effect across the region as emergency crews brace for additional severe weather.

Flooding from ongoing rain has closed County Line Road in Broken Arrow between 81st and 91st streets, prompting traffic detours.
