Following Google Cloud's recent widespread outage, which took sites like Spotify, Cloudflare and Discord offline, the company released its detailed report sharing exactly why it failed customers. The company says the root cause was a code issue in Service Control – part of the company's API management and policy checking system.

A series of outages plagued various websites, services, and platforms throughout the week, ultimately affecting productivity for users around the globe.

Downdetecor showed over 40,000 users reported issues on Spotify. Tens of thousands of users on Spotify and Google Cloud collectively reported technical issues on Thursday, according to Downdetector.
