With his trade for the proven and, well, aging goal-scorer Chris Kreider — for forward prospect Carey Terrance, plus a draft-pick swap — Verbeek apparently is trying to reconstruct the 2022 Eastern Conference finalist New York Rangers to help guide his team toward ending a seven-year postseason drought.

The Anaheim Ducks swooped in and traded for Chris Kreider from the New York Rangers on Thursday. Originally, the Ducks were actually on Kreider’s 15-team, no-trade list, but after doing his due diligence on Aniheim’s current situation, he decided to waive his no-move clause.

The New York Rangers found a way to free up cap space to use this summer in one of the hardest ways for their fan base when they traded team leader Chris Kreider to the Anaheim Ducks.
