A proposed flier from a super PAC supporting Andrew Cuomo’s mayoral bid featured an image of Zohran Mamdani with a thicker beard. Mr. Mamdani called the manipulation Islamophobic.
The PAC said the image was released without its consent. A Cuomo spokesperson called the picture "absurd and disrespectful."
Surging in recent polls but generally still in second place, Mamdani was subject to the frontrunner treatment as his opponents knocked his paltry record in the state Legislature, far-left views and criticism of Israel.
