LONDON (AP) — President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that the United States will get magnets and rare earth minerals from China under a new trade deal and that tariffs on Chinese goods will go to 55%.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told Congress that it is "highly likely" that a pause related to steep new US tariffs on other countries will be extended for countries that are negotiating with the administration "in good faith.

U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said on Wednesday that the 55% tariffs imposed by the United States on China will not change after a trade deal was struck between the two countries.
